Reflections: Celebrating 10 Years of SC Adopt-A-Stream

South Carolina Adopt-a-Stream empowers community members to protect and improve water quality through education and certified volunteer monitoring. Volunteers attend free workshops across the state to learn to monitor freshwater streams, tidal saltwaters, lakes, and macroinvertebrates. Their data establishes baseline site conditions, increases community awareness and engagement, and sparks investigation with local partners when pollution threats emerge. We are excited to announce that SC Adopt-a-Stream  is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in 2027!

Since 2017, SC AAS has certified nearly 5,000 people across South Carolina, teaching them the importance of maintaining healthy waters and equipping them to monitor their local waterways. To commemorate 10 years of South Carolina’s volunteer water quality monitoring program, Friends of SC AAS will host Reflections, a weekend of fundraising and volunteer appreciation in Columbia, SC on August 13-14, 2027. This special event will offer volunteers and supporters the opportunity to celebrate, reflect on program successes, and imagine the future of SC AAS.

Tax deductible donations for Reflections support venue rental costs, food and beverages, the volunteer appreciation event, and a limited-edition t-shirt. Sponsorship will be recognized by featuring your logo or name on the commemorative t-shirt, SC AAS Facebook and Instagram pages, in SC AAS's monthly e-newsletter, and on the Friends of SC AAS website. Tax-deductible contributions to support SC AAS may be made via the donation form below. To earmark contributions for Reflections and secure sponsorship packages, include "Reflections Sponsorship" in the comment box.

Contributions may also be made by checks payable to EEASC with "SC AAS Reflections" in the memo line. Checks may be mailed to EEASC, 701 Gervais Street, Suite 150-538, Columbia, SC 29201-3066. Questions? Contact scaas@des.sc.gov.
