Seven minutes of unstructured playtime on average per day. That's the statistic behind how much time kids spend in nature these days. This leads to a lot of fear of the unknown when it comes to kids and the natural world. Playscapes are gaining in popularity across the Nation as a way to give kids more creative license during play, to reintroduce more risky play that leads to more confidence, and to bring nature back into the picture!
The playscape at Conestee Nature Preserve (CNP) opened in April 2025. It quickly gained local and national recognition as a premier play place for children. Join us to learn more about Conestee's vision and mission for the Playscape as well as the lessons learned making this dream a reality! CNP will be happy to share their permitting and funding journey for those interested in developing a Playscape for their school, organization, or town.
WHAT:
We will tour the playscape with CNP's Education Director and EEASC's Immediate Past President, Sarah Whitmire. The playscape will be open so you will be able to see children interacting with the different elements.
