PEEC Sponsorship

PEEC—the Palmetto Environmental Education Certification Program – is the first and only professional environmental education certification in S.C. open to both formal and non-formal educators. Throughout the two-year certification, participants sharpen their individual skill set for teaching environmental education, network with fellow educators from across the state, and explore the different regions of the state. Ultimately, graduates of the program strengthen the qual i ty of environmental education at their current or future place of employment by fostering critical thinking, stewardship, and enthusiasm for our environment . 

Each cohort of PEEC participants engages in two years of structured professional development activities including: four workshops, eight online course modules, 90 hours of elective credit hours, and the completion of a capstone project . PEEC is hosted and managed by the Environmental Education Association of SC, accredited by the North American Association for Environmental Education, and has been approved for 120 renewal credits by the S.C. Department of Education.
