Come explore the exhibit South Carolina Wings of Wonder at the South Carolina State Museum at 301 Gervais Street, Columbia with the Central Section of EEASC.  This event is on Sunday, August 16th. We will meet outside the museum at 1:30 PM and enter together by 2:00 as a group. The first 15 members of EEASC who register will gain entry for free. Non-members ages 13-61 will pay $11.00, ages 62+ will pay $9.00, and ages 3-12 will pay $8.00 for tickets at the door. 

According to the museum's website:  'Guests can explore the diversity of South Carolina birds in, South Carolina Wings of Wonder, which will feature specimens and objects from the museum’s extensive natural history collection. The display will highlight the variety of the nearly 450 bird species in our state. Specimens include both common and less-often seen raptors, shorebirds and songbirds. Also included in the exhibition will be the DeCamps bird egg collection, showcasing the beauty and variety of size, shape, and color of bird eggs.

The representation of birds in art and throughout history will be featured, as well as a section on the extinct Carolina parakeet that includes the museum’s taxidermy specimen and early depictions of the bird by John James Audubon and Alexander Wilson. Other featured objects include bird carvings by artist Tom Boozer, prints from the museum’s South Carolina Migratory Waterfowl Stamp collection, and items related to South Carolina’s bird hunting traditions.'

The tickets are general admission, so you can also explore the other exhibits in the museum which closes at 5:00 PM.
