The Environmental Education Association of South Carolina (EEASC) is seeking individuals or groups/organizations to present concurrent sessions during the 2021 Annual Conference on Friday, June 11, 2021. Concurrent sessions will be presented virtually via Zoom. Conference theme and strands are described below.

Conference Theme: Environmental Legacy: It’s Our Story. Past, Present, and Future.
Conference Strands:
- Pages of the Past: This conference strand aims to capture perspectives about our environmental past by featuring sessions highlighting the fields of geosciences, natural history, or socio-cultural perspectives. Proposals submitted for this strand are encouraged to consider guiding questions such as: What does the natural landscape tell us about our environmental past? How do historical environmental science data inform our present-day lives and/or future directions? How have cultural connections to the environment changed over time?
- Present-Day Plotlines: This conference strand explores our present-day environmental heritage by featuring sessions from the fields of formal and non-formal education, application of science education research, and community environmentalism. Proposals submitted for this strand are encouraged to consider guiding questions such as: Are you exploring a new environmental educational program or project? Are you involved with environmental education research that is investigating current trends? What suggestions do you have for engaging your local community in environmentally-focused efforts?
- Foreshadowing the Future: This conference strand explores the chapters of our environmental legacy yet to be written and encourages proposal submissions from all applicable fields. Proposal submitted for this strand are encouraged to consider guiding questions such as: What does environmental education look like in the future? What are some sustainable, innovative, and forward-thinking projects, ideas, and strategies that are on the horizon and how might these impact society?
Session Lengths: Speakers should plan for approximately 20 minutes of session content, 5 minutes of Q&A, and 5 minutes of housekeeping and introductions for a total session length of 30 minutes.
Proposal Review and Acceptance: Session proposals will be reviewed by a committee; speakers will be notified whether their proposals are accepted for presentation by April 1, 2021.
Registration Fees: The 2021 conference registration base fee will be $25 for all participants, with optional add-ons including field trips and t-shirts. Conference presenters will receive a $25 discount on their registration costs. (That is, FREE registration for presenters, excluding any field trip selections, t-shirts, or other add-on fees.) All conference participants will have access to recorded sessions following the event.
