Making Waves:
Innovation and Creativity in Environmental Education

Annual Conference Presented by the Environmental Education Association of South Carolina
June 19-21, 2025 at the Francis Marion University Freshwater Ecology Complex in Florence, SC

About

Annually, the Environmental Education Association of South Carolina (EEASC) hosts an annual conference, gathering educators, environmental professionals, and community leaders committed to promoting environmental literacy and stewardship in South Carolina.

This year’s conference theme, “Making Waves,” symbolizes the powerful ripple effect that innovative ideas and creative approaches can have on environmental education. Attendees will be encouraged to chart new waters through contemporary strategies that challenge traditional approaches, encourage out-of-the-box thinking, and motivate learners of all ages to take an active role in environmental stewardship. Registration is coming soon!

Keynote Speaker: Josh Arrants

Josh Arrants is a nationally known and respected naturalist who has 25 years of experience working with endangered species, monitoring flora and fauna populations, and teaching natural history across the United States. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, he is originally from the Palmetto State. Josh has lived in Montana for 8 years and is on the board of directors of The Glacier Institute, where he served as the immediate past president. He is the instructor of the Master Naturalist of Glacier National Park class, as well as other courses on the flora, fauna, and geology of northwest Montana. Josh owns Arrants Outdoors, an environmental and ecological consulting company that works with corporations, government agencies, and private landowners on permitting, monitoring, and conservation projects. He is also passionate about giving back to the community, creating the Nicole Chadwick Memorial Scholarship through the SC Wildlife Federation and taking part in countless fundraising and educational events for nonprofits and other organizations around the country.

Sponsorships

We anticipate the participation of approximately 100 passionate environmental educators, including classroom teachers, soil and water conservation district staff, park rangers, zoo and botanical garden interpreters, 4-H leaders, government officials, private sector representatives, and others dedicated to environmental education.

As South Carolina’s affiliate of the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE), EEASC is part of a vibrant network of 56 organizations across North America connecting, supporting, and equipping environmental educators. EEASC is a 501(3)c nonprofit organization, and your conference sponsorship will help us keep registration fees affordable, ensuring that teachers and informal educators can benefit from this exceptional professional development event.

Sponsorship Information

Silent Auction

A silent auction takes place at our annual conference with all proceeds going to support the mission and programs of EEASC. Please consider donating an item and/or working with local artisans, businesses, and other entities to solicit additional contributions to this year’s silent auction effort.

Environmental Award Nominations

The Environmental Education Association of South Carolina seeks individuals, groups, and organizations who have contributed significantly to the importance of environmental education in South Carolina. Award winners are announced at our annual conference.

Call for Proposals

This conference is an opportunity for environmental educators and science communicators (including classroom teachers and informal educators) to learn about water quality; participate in hands-on professional development events; and network with like-minded professionals from across the state. EEASC is strongly encouraging session proposals that cover the following topics: water quality, watershed conservation, wetlands, stormwater education, content knowledge, pedagogy, and curriculum resources.
